Advances In The Digital World

With the advances in technology, we can really say that we live in a digital world. Just about everything today has some type of screen attached to it to make life a little easier. We went from a simple portable cassette player, otherwise known as the Walkman, to a more sophisticated iPod Touch. An iPod Touch not only has the capacity to hold and play hundreds of thousands of songs but it can also play movies, games, and gives you access to the internet to download tons of applications. We can say we have come a long way just by looking how we have transformed simple gadgets like the simple cassette player into an almost miniature portable computer. We have done the same to the cell phone and the video game console. For the cell phone, we have the Apple iPhone and the Blackberry Storm, which mimic the abilities and features of a desktop computer, and for video gaming, we have the Sony PSP.

The cell phone, video game console, and the music player are just the tip of the iceberg of the amount of things we have digitalized in the past decade. We all know about the digital watch and the digital alarm clock, but what about the piano? We do not just have electric and digital keyboards but pianos as well. Electric pianos are more affordable but have a lot of extras that can help musicians become more creative with their music. We also have the coffee maker that not only brews your coffee but can also be set to brew at a specific time.

Today's cars now come stocked with digital parts like the dashboard. Depending on the class of car you buy, you will get a built in screen with a navigational system, high definition radio with Blue Tooth capability, and and iPod hook up, and even your gauges can be digital with different color settings. These gadgets have helped make things a little more convenient for us, but what about medical gadgets that help us from making an unnecessary trip to the doctor? We have digital thermometers that do not require the use of mercury. Pregnancy tests are now easier to read, and diabetics have blood sugar testers that are quick and easy to use.

Cell phones, video game consoles, cars, and other such devices are just a few gadgets that have evolved through our vast advances in technology. As technology continues to advance and computers continue to get stronger, faster, and smaller, our common household items will continue to evolve as well.
